Welcome parents and students to the 2013-2014 school year!
My name is Jill Nahrstedt, pronounced Nar-sted, and I am the Lower and Middle
School Art Teacher. This is my eighth year teaching art in Chicago, and I am a
practicing artist with an emphasis in printmaking. I practice modified TAB, Teaching Artistic Behavior, which
promotes integrating art history, criticism, aesthetics, and art production
into every studio choice made. I am excited to facilitate innovation, creation,
exploration, and general chance-taking.
This is our year!
Students will attend
art class twice a week and the following class policies apply;
* Homework –
Homework will be given frequently and is due the following art class. Work is
to be turned in at the beginning of class as directed.
If homework is;
1 day late – 25% off
2 days late – 50% off
3 days late – no credit
1 day late – 25% off
2 days late – 50% off
3 days late – no credit
* Grades – Grades
will be entered into Powerschool weekly. Projects and participation grades and
calculated according to the attached rubrics, as well as expectations and
requirements discussed in class with students. The following formula will be
applied;

* Required Materials
– The following materials must be brought to art class every day;
- pencil (students should have a set of crayons or coloring
pencils at home for homework)

classroom rules and procedures. I also agree to all information covered in the
P.S. M. Handbook. I realize that rules and procedures can be modified if
necessary at the discretion of the teacher.
